A LITTLE ABOUT SORENTO CARE
Our group homes provide care and accommodation to clients with a wide variety of individual needs. We have tailored programs to individual needs, with both activities, study and work programs which is stimulating and fulfilling for our clients.

We are providing living skills training and a transition assistance program to enable clients to move successfully back to the community. Our living skills program has been assessed as highly successful and we constantly receive requests to provide this program to clients. We support a number of clients with needs resulting from the consequences of an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) We have had amazing documented successes with clients who have regained many skills through the individualised rehabilitation programs we have developed in consultation with allied health experts.

INSPIRATIONAL STORIES

Getting back to the community:
"Ted was frightened and so cut off from the world and his family because he didn’t know how to use a phone. With help from our staff Ted was able to purchase a prepaid mobile phone of his choice and everyday staff would sit with Ted and show him features on the phone that would prove handy.

Ted feels secure and so confident now, he phones and texts his family weekly gets the latest news on his phone and loads up his favourite songs to listen to. Ted’s confidence has grown so much that he now feels little anxiety when trying something new because he knows he can do it - just like learning to use the phone!"

"Cathy is a beautiful young woman who has been wheel chair bound since a near fatal road accident when she was very young . Cathy has always lived at home but she and her family wanted her to be more independent . Cathy now lives in a serviced apartment with us where individual care, rehabilitation, return to community and a large variety of lifestyle programs are offered. Since moving to us Cathy has joined many of our programs and has developed greater independence, is able to eat by herself , increased her vocabulary and is now able to walk with assistance. Cathy has become more settled, happy and fun loving-enjoying the company of others and continues to participate in a wide variety of lifestyle programs and community activities."
